A modello makes painting the original picture much easier. You can explore complex forms or colors and change them any time you want. The original painting must be forethought, otherwise fixing incorrectly depicted shapes and colors will be visible. The colors become muddy and wrong shapes will shine through the thin glazes. Finally, if the modello is done properly, you can fully concentrate on colors and technique in the original. The technique I use for the modello is similar to the original but with only two layers and fast painted. The size is much smaller so I don’t have to paint a lot of details, which is not important for its purpose.
